About the only down side is that the park faces largely to the West. This makes viewing the sunset and sunrise rise reflections against the basin impossible from your own RV site.
We stayed here for two weeks. Leon, the campground owner, was extremely kind and did everything he could to make our stay easy and comfortable since our truck broke down shortly after we arrived. All the guests at Study Butte were exceptional friendly and helpful, and Leon is constantly making improvements to the campground. It’s a great location so close to Big Bend National Park. We would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in the area.
That said, zero hesitancy exists in me strongly recommending this park.
As close to the park as you'll be you can't beat this place! Yes the sites are close, but it's quiet, dog friendly, and the owner Leon is such a nice guy. We had no issues while there. All utilities worked and the WiFi was very reliable. Store right across the street has EVERYTHING you'll need. The only "con" - the water is very hard. This is our first stay in the desert so maybe that's to be expected. Price was fair, we'll be back!
My husband and I stayed at the park on vacation for 4 nights. The park is located just a few minutes outside of the national park and across the street from a grocery store that offers a great selection of organic foods and all the little things an RVer might need out on the road. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice resident and allowed to park in a pull thru spot of our choice. There wasn't any rush to check-in so we were able to get all set-up before meeting with Leon and checking in. Leon is a laid back gentlemen, friendly, and seems to be working hard to make his new park a home for visitors on the road. We plan to stay here when we return in Feb'18 for the bike fest. Good water, 30 and 50 electric hook-ups, and plenty of open sky!
PERFECT! Right in between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park, and JUST outside of the NP. Very affordable, very nice people, and a really relaxed place to stay.
New owners are incredibly available and expert problem solvers. Sites level. Store across 118. Closest place to the National Park.
