(Warning: young adults from Central Florida in for vacation) Hubs and I (and tour guide Mike) WERE THE ONLY ONES DURING OUR FOUR-HOUR CANOE EXCURSION through the Dark Canyon of the Big Bend State Park. Many times it just seemed like it was just our canoe surrounded by nature. The journey INCLUDED TWO VERY MINOR RAPIDS (your guide will help you through them) but other than that, it was a path that ALL AGE GROUPS COULD ATTEMPT. I’m so glad our river guide Mike didn’t sound like some Disney operator. Okay- the whole break in the middle of our canoe session to set up a mini table of cheese and cookies was a bit cute… but Mike didn’t coddle us. He was straightforward and stayed a distance away so we could explore for ourselves yet we knew he was keeping an eye on us. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT and we’d love to do this again.
The paddle is a very manageable paddle for all ages, including kids. My mom and I had trouble but that's only because one of us had never done a paddle before.
Fantastic, peaceful, beautiful float. Appropriate for adults of any age, and kids who'll be happy staying put in a boat :)
Awesome experience floating down the Santa Elena Cayon. It is worth the 8 floating the sight seeing is amazing. The guide was very informative. The pictures cannot express what your eyes can really see while floating the Rio Grande.
Hired them to take a large group on a hike and canoe trip. Overall good experience, especially with the canoe trip. The hike was set at a very strenuous pace and we had to keep on asking them to slow down. Very friendly and knowledgeable guides.
I will give anyone their recommendation if you're looking for a nice canoe trip down the Rio Grande!
Great river tour! The guides (Doug and Lisa) were very friendly, very talkative and very helpful. We did the morning paddle through Big Bend Ranch State Park and it was a BEAUTIFUL trip.
