The first time you come to this place, it'll be to stay in a nice little house (with a shower and a comfy bed and a place to keep your beer cold) that can serve as the perfect jumping off point for all of your adventures into Big Bend. But the next time you come here—and rest assured, you will come back—it'll be because of Cynta. Wonderful, bright, kind Cynta, with a heart as big as Texas, a sharp brain, a quick smile, and encyclopedic knowledge of the park (go ahead, test her). She makes this place feel like coming home: she'll take good care of you, send you to the best places in the park, and, if you're lucky, tell you some amazing stories. This place is Terlingua's "hidden" gem. Stay here and become a frequent guest for life.

My husband and I stayed in the guest house for our anniversary trip and loved it. It is primitive living but we loved being able to un-plug for a while. There was no TV and cell reception was spotty which made it a nice escape. It is about a 15 minute drive to the park entrance!

The outdoor shower was probably my favorite part.

The guest house is BEAUTIFUL. The outdoor beds are positioned perfectly for viewing the sunrise in the morning and the stars at night. We ate most of our meals from the front porch because the view was so fantastic. The kitchen has everything you need for basic meal prep and she has a coffee pot and French press (a woman after my own heart).

Fantastic place. I built it. Ha!

Wonderful. Simply wonderful. Our host is fantastic, knowledgable, informative, and interesting! The view is just awesome.

Cynta and Baxter (her dog) are excellent hosts. Cynta has so many wonderful stories to tell and can give excellent advice as to which areas of the park to go to.

Our stay was here in the guest house In April 2017 for 4 nights. Some things you need to know- The water here is a rainwater catchment system pressurized by a pump, solar panels and battery. Expect low water pressures for showering comparable to what is in an RV. The main house is located at a higher elevation to the left, so the outdoor patio and outdoor shower are not completely private and can bee seen from that house. The Wi-Fi is pretty weak and slow. I was able to upload pics to FB, but don't expect any Netflix streaming or any heavy duty internet surfing. The inside of the house is small with just enough room for the bed and kitchen area. Other than that, this is an excellent place for an extended stay for visiting Big Bend with a short drive to the park each day.
